Getting Skinny Was Never This Easy!

So, I've been in Toronto for two plus months, and I've been really really broke. The job hunt has been less than fruitful to say the least. I'm concerned now that I may not be able to get a job in time. I have one months rent plus some extra to keep me up on finding a job. Where do I go now, what do I do and where do I start again? I'm looking for junior event planner spots, cook spots or even bartender positions. There seems to be a lot of job openings but still more people looking than there is jobs!

Well, I have to say that I love this city and I find that I'm being put to the crunch this month. If I don't find anything I will have to move back to Cambridge and I don't want to do that. My hopes are that as the weather warms I will be able to do some footwork and find something that is paying. I must say that not being able to afford eating properly is giving me back my physique, although it's not the best way to earn the "fit" look at all!

The plan is to be able to go to school in September for Event Planner Certification and find a job in that field by this time next year. Co-op is mandatory so I won't be getting paid. I will have to learn what it is to work and learn at the same time. Good thing I've had fun up until now!

Also, the South Side has discontinued cheap martinis all night and now stop serving them at 10pm. Which, is kind of a slap in the face to us if you ask me. It's not a hard thing to figure out that we were the main crowd going in there every Wednesday and spending at least $150 plus a happy tip. This leads me to think that we may not be at the level of class where we are welcome to come and lounge and drink almost cost martinis. Too bad so sad!

So, tomorrow I will be heading out to get my hair cut I think at "Curl Up and Dye" then continue the job hunt. I should be able to find something quick with a decent hair cut and a bus pass to get me around more reliably than having only one or two fares for each day if that. Boy who would have thought that life would come to this hard of a road. There is nothing left for me but to go to war with it and come out victorious! I'm keeping my head up and looking to the best.

In the Beginning ... A Beautiful Day to Start Blogging!

What a great sunny day! A visit to the Forest Hill Village was in order and completed. There is something that I like about the village and it definitely has a lot to do with it's quietness. The park there is peaceful and filled with locals going about their day. The coffee shops are friendly and the food at the restaurants is great!

Did I mention that The South Side restaurant has $6 triple martinis every Wednesday? I've only missed one of those days in the past month and a half! Their bottom shelf is amazing and the service blows away anything from any other regular bar you could go to on hump day. The owner, the chef and the service staff are all very approachable and make sure that you are well taken care of. This place is a great spot to put on the regular visitation list.

As I make my life here in Toronto I plan to keep track of my experiences and give definitive reviews of each location or event that I visit. No, there is no buying me into creating a good review if a place is brutal. I will always hold a solid account of the events past.

So, far finding a job in the big city is very different than that of Cambridge or any smaller cities. I am used to walking into a place and not always having to even show a resume. Also, I would normally walk out that day with a start date and a negotiated wage! In retrospect Toronto is much different. I have applied to lest round it down or just off at 200 places easily (both online and in person) since I arrived here a month ago. Interviews have happened but on the very rare occasion. Needless to say they have not gone well either.

I am keeping my head high and planning for anything that can come up in my path. This is a life changing time for me so I will not accept less from myself for any decision. I plan to make this work. Herein will be my accounts of good times and establishing myself in the great city of Toronto!
